Rebecca was born on a hot summer day, on July 20, 1956. As a baby, she clung to her mother, but she was the light of her granddaddy’s life when they would go on visits to the mountains to see her grandparents. She loved to work outside with her dad, helping to keep the grass cut and the pool clean. She, her sister, and their dad (Bobby) all loved swimming and diving—except for their mom, who was afraid of water.
At the age of 13, Rebecca accepted Jesus as her Savior, and she was baptized. She graduated from Hampton High School and went directly to work at the Mica Company. She was the fastest production technician at the company, and she would routinely help others catch up once she had finished her own work. She married and had a little girl, Crystal.
After 18 years at Mica, she decided to move to the beach in North Carolina to open a gift shop. It was beautiful, and she loved that space with all of her heart. However, in her early 50s, she discovered she had Alpha-1-Antitrypsin Deficiency, and she had to wear oxygen and have intravenous shots weekly. She handled her newfound health condition with bravery, and she never once complained.
Suddenly, she became very ill and left us to go be with Jesus near midnight on June 21, 2023, at the age of 66. God bless her in heaven. She was the bravest person we’ve ever known. We will miss her until we meet again. Wait for us, Darling. Love, Mother and Family.
She is survived by her daughter, Crystal Adams; two grandsons, Dylan McCuiston and Tristan Adams; her mother, Connie Chisholm; her sister, Beth and her husband, Donnie; and a few, loving cousins.
The family will receive friends at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 North Armistead Avenue, Hampton, VA 23666. A celebration of life service will occur at 2:00 PM, followed by interment at Parklawn Memorial Park.
Her leaving took the light out of our lives, but we know she is in a better place.
