Quincy accepted Christ at an early age, as a veteran of the United States Armed Forces (Navy), he loved philosophy, playing chess, playing the saxophone, listening to jazz music, and loved the game of baseball.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elvis Smith and Ernestine Nelson; 4 brothers: Joe Jr., Charles, Muriel and Damon Nelson; and two sisters: Eldred Smith and Verlestine Baxter.
He is survived by his six children, three daughters: Joni Sellers of Garden City, MI, Whitney Burrell (Matthew) of Tampa, FL, and Rachel Smith of Norfolk, VA; three sons: Joseph Reese of Detroit, MI, Devin Brown of Hampton, VA, and Cory Smith of Hampton, VA; six grandsons: Marquis, Noah, Jayden, Isaiah, Cortez and Jaheim; two granddaughters: Tayla and L’Laysha; three brothers: Eric, Robert and Keeling Nelson (Sherry) all of Detroit, MI; four sisters: Lavera Hussey (Dexter) of Ecorse, MI, Frankie Alex of Atlanta, GA, Ingrid Smith of River Rouge, MI, and Roxie McLaughlin (Ardelphus) of Niceville, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
At his request his remains will be cremated by Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, Hampton, VA. A celebration of his life will be announced at a later date.
