Peter was born on December 25, 1960, to Ann and Peter Fitzpatrick, Sr. in Charlotte, North Carolina. After he graduated from Calvert Hall high school in Baltimore, Maryland, Peter joined the United States Coast Guard from 1982 until 2002.
Peter met his wife Janet Fitzpatrick, nee Jazombek, in Mattituck on Long Island, New York, and was married on Valentine’s Day, 2000, at Lee’s Quarters on Fort Monroe, Virginia.
Peter attended St. Leo University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in 2011. He stopped working in 2021 and spent his remaining years with actively helping disabled veterans as a member of the Healing Waters Project, the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), and Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States (VFW.) He was also a member of the Freemasons, where he was involved in supplying needy veterans with medical aids.
Peter Fitzpatrick was predeceased by his parents Ann and Peter Fitzpatrick and his step-son Dennis Jazombek. He leaves behind his wife Janet Fitzpatrick and brother Tom (Teresa) Fitzpatrick.
The family will receive friends 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Ave, Hampton, VA 23666 followed by Catholic Services at 10:00 AM in the funeral home. During the scheduled services Military Honors will be rendered, as well as VFW Rites, and VFW Cootie Rites. Immediately thereafter, all are invited to Celebration of Life at VFW Post 3219, 122 E Mellen St, Hampton, VA 23663.
