Patrick Ronald Conley, 57, of Hampton, VA passed away on August 27, 2014 with his family at his side. “Pat” Conley was born in Mt. Pleasant, MI on October 2, 1956. He graduated from Clare High School and the University of Maryland with a B.A. in Music Performance.
Pat retired from the US Army in 1998 after enjoying a 24 year career playing trombone in various bands within the continental United States, Germany, and Hawaii. After retirement, Pat chose to follow in his father's impressive footsteps and teach his love of music to children. He has been the Music Director at Isle of Wight Academy since 1998.
Pat is survived by his wife, Susan (Zemko); son, Christopher Conley of Virginia Beach; daughter, Rachel Conley of Hampton; father, Lloyd Conley of Rogers City, MI; two brothers, David Conley (Linda) of Farwell, MI, and Tom Conley of Ocklawaha, FL.; mother-in-law, Linda (Archbold) Zemko; three sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members. Pat was predeceased by his mother, Helen (Holzschu) Conley.
Pat's greatest joy in life was his family and the time spent with them. He shared a love of music with Chris, and they spent many hours talking about different musical genres. He and Rachel loved history, genealogy, and exploring historical and family sites. With Sue, his best friend and love of his life, he walked the beaches and traveled the world.
A Memorial service will take place Monday, Sept. 1, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. ~ Northampton Church of Christ, 1409 Todds Lane, Hampton, VA. A personal family celebration of Pat's life will be held at a later date in Michigan.
