She was born at home on June 11, 1937 in Elizabeth City County (Hampton) Virginia. She graduated from Hampton High School in 1955 and immediately began work at HQ TAC, Langley Field VA. She met her future husband at Langley, married, and moved to Illinois. She lived there for 20 years before returning to her beloved Virginia. She resumed work at Langley AFB after her husband’s death and retired in 2003 after 25 years. She was a long-time member of Ivy Memorial Baptist Church.

She is predeceased by her mother and father, Ruth and Stuart Bryan; sisters, Betty McIntosh, Mary Tyree, and Shirley Mann; brother, Charles Bryan; husband Ethan, and daughter Ellen Rice.
She is survived by sons Alan (Debbie) and Evan (Ann); 9 grandchildren: David, Aaron, Amy, Leah, Joshua, Allison, Rebekah, Emma and Tye; and 10 great-grandchildren: Auston, Connor, Philip, Stephen, James, Jonathan, Simeon, Mikaela, Matthew and Quinn.
A visitation will be held on November 17, 2022, at 12:30 PM, followed by a Celebration of life at 1:30 PM. All services are held at Seaford Baptist Church, 1311 Seaford Road, Seaford, VA 23696.
“Let not your heart be troubled; ye believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto Myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” John 14:1-3
