Norman Anthony Murray, 82, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2019. Norman was a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and a resident of Gloucester, Virginia since 1980. He was a retired U. S. Air force veteran who served 28 years and retired in 1980 as a Senior Master Sergeant (SMSgt). After retirement, he worked for Naval Weapons Station in Yorktown, Virginia. He was a die-hard fan of all Pittsburgh sports but had a special affinity for the Pittsburgh Steelers (who’s emblem he had proudly tattooed on his arm). Norm loved that being in the military allowed him the opportunity to travel the world with his family, collecting souvenirs and memories along the way. As he often said, “We lived a good life”.
He was preceded in death by his siblings Tom Murray, Paul Murray, Mary Krall, and Diane Curka, all of Pittsburgh.
Norm is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Donna Murray; their four children: Milan Murray, Warren Murray, Janine Murray, and Lyann Kahlbaum (Steve); six grandchildren: Kristi Patterson (Brandon), Brandon Murray, Heather Tebbenhoff (William), Amber Murray, Hailey Kahlbaum, and Samantha Murray; three great-grandchildren: Nora, Cameron, and Mason; and two sisters Peggy Dusch and Cathy Leger of Pittsburgh.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2019, at 2:00 PM in Groves Memorial Presbyterian Church in Glass, Va.
