Nancy Martin

Nancy Martin, age 86, of Hampton, Virginia passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2022. Nancy was born on November 24th, 1935 in Ballground, Georgia, but called Hampton, Virginia home. She proudly graduated from Hampton High School in 1954, and went on to work at the Newport News Shipyard for 20 years. Later, she became a staple employee at the ABC Store for another 20 years. In the midst of her career, she was an incredibly loyal hard-worker that was even more dedicated to raising her three sons. Nancy was a devoted mother, first and foremost. Family was her number one love and passion in life. She threw all of her energies into her children and grandchildren. Nancy always made time for her loved ones while ensuring that everyone who crossed her threshold was met with the utmost love and support. Nancy adored going to the movies, family dinners, and traveling. In her 86 years, she went to places like Yosemite, cruises to Alaska & Hawaii, and road-tripped across the country with her brother, Gil. But, her favorite place to travel was Rodanthe; the family's annual 4th of July vacation. Nancy lived a full life with endless memories created. Nothing is eternal except our love for our family; when we keep them in our hearts and remember all of the good stuff we had together, they can live forever in our hearts and memories. She will forever be in ours. Her profound loss will be felt for years to come, but our love for her is eternal. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; Jack and Glennis Hughes. She leaves behind her brothers; Jack David Hughes Jr., and Joseph Gil Hughes; sons, Melvin, David and Stephen Martin; grandchildren, Norma Jean, Manda Ozea, Stephen Ron Martin; 3 great grandsons; 2 great granddaughters; and many nieces & nephews. A celebration of life service for Nancy will be held Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Parklawn Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Ave, Hampton, VA 23666 with a reception to follow at Mill Creek Tavern from 11:30-1:00, 1340 N Mallory St, Hampton.
