Max G Ward

Max Ward, Sr. left this world on July 12,2022 at the age of 84. Max was a North Carolina native where he met his beautiful wife of 60 years. He was a resident of Hampton Roads for 51 years and a retiree from Newport News Shipbuilding, where he worked as a Master Welder for 37 years. Max loved his children and grandchildren more than life and it showed every time he saw them. He was everyone’s favorite Uncle and made sure he was there if you needed anything. Max certainly knew how to have a good time and loved sharing these moments with his family. Max is preceded in rest by his wife, Helen; five brothers, one sister, and son, Max Ward, Jr. Max is survived by son, Rodney Ward (Kristin); daughter, Tanya Davenport (Mathew Coppins). Max has six grandchildren, Heath Ward, Matthew Gandee (Candace), Alexandria Isaacson, Taylor Davenport, Emma Ward, and Maddox Ward. Max’s heart was full with love for his six great grandchildren, Lilly Ward, Lincoln Gandee, McKinley Gandee, Tyler Gandee, Hayes Gandee and Penelope Isaacson. A visitation will be held for Max on Monday, July 18th at 9:00 AM with the funeral service to follow at 10:00 AM. The services will be held at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home in Hampton, VA (2551 N. Armistead Ave). The family will be accepting visitors immediately after the service at Max’s home, 37 Wellington Drive in Hampton.
