After being orphaned at a young age, she lived family until she met and married Homer H. "Hank" Wilson in May of 1959. They began their family, having five children between 1960 and 1965. After her husband returned from Vietnam, they embarked on a civilian life, having two more children between 1970 and 1973.
During the 1980s. Sue began working for the Peninsula Agency on Aging, retiring in 2016. Her dedication to her work was second only to her church family at Ivy Memorial Baptist Church, where she was a member since 1973.
After retiring, Sue spent her time serving the community through Ivy Memorial and enjoying her grown children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Hank, who passed in 1996. She is survived by her dear sister, Wilma Brooks of Katy, TX; her seven children: Holly A Coast (Mark), Carol S. Weimann (Bob), Linda E. Jordan, David A. Wilson (Sandy), Nancy L. Wilson, James D. Wilson (Julie), and Michael P. Wilson (Meg). She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and a multitude of friends, both near and far.
Her family is sincerely appreciative of all of the condolences, and they beg for your prayers during this time of mourning and adjustment.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 4, 2024 at Ivy Memorial Baptist Church, 2200 Coliseum Drive, Hampton, VA 23666. The service will begin at 2:00 PM, and a light reception will follow.
Flowers will be received at Ivy Memorial Baptist Church.
