I was saddened with the news of Kurt passing!  Him and I have so many memories since High School and always stayed in touch with each other.   He was like a brother to me, we could talk about anything and enjoyed our time whether in person, over the phone or messaging each other.   When he moved to Oklahoma and was stationed at Tinker Air Force Base, I would visit him every time I went up to Oklahoma to help the company I worked for open their Oklahoma site.  We always had a great time hanging out.  My family loved Kurt!  He would come over, visit and hang out a lot.  He taught me how to study in college.  Him and I would go down to the University of Texas campus, he was attending at that time,  after 7:00 pm and find a quiet place to do a week or twos worth of homework in one night so we did not have to worry about it.  We did this every two weeks.  The last conversation I had with Kurt, he talked about how we met, in High School in English class.   We became great friends/brothers from that day forward.   We had to write a paper for class and we decided to write a paper of 2 guys street racing.  He was driving his car and I was driving mine.  They were 2 independent views of the same race.  During our last conversation, he said we could write a book on our lives, I told him we could make a movie from it.   He thought a movie would be good as well and said this we would call it:  “Weekend in Round Rock”, a movie that shows a simultaneous story, written by two friends, from their own points of view, interwoven to tell a complete story… just like how their friendship began with their first school papers which were written to the ‘high’ satisfaction of their first high-school teacher.   I am attaching that part of the conversation, it makes me smile every time I read it!   Thank you Kurt for all the memories, I will never forget them just like you will never be forgotten!! We are so sad about Kurt’s passing! We have so many memories to cherish. We first met Kurt and Diana when we moved to Okinawa and Kurt helped us when we arrived in Okinawa and when we retired. He worked effortlessly so make sure Paul was honored when he retired from the Air Force. You will be greatly missed Kurt! We will be praying for you Diana! May God Bless you today and always!

Although I've only know Kurt when he and his family, arrived in Virginia at Langley Air Force Base, over a year ago, he was a friend with whom I had a lot in common with.  The first time we met I gave him some leads on homes that were for sale.  I seen him and his family at least once a week in the Langley Commissary. We were both Air force retirees, had lived/assigned in Oklahoma and had families which experienced many of the same challenges that military families face.  Every time we met our conversations were lively and abundant with life events.  Even the challenges we faced were met with optimism.  I knew he was a good father and husband too.  He always made sure his family had everything they needed!  An excellent provider to a loving family.  I looked forward to seeing him/them each week and was hoping that our families could get together one day and meet, when the opportunity arose.  When I heard of his passing I was in disbelief, and it was deeply heartfelt.  Please except my deepest condolences Diana, children and family.  May God find peace in your heart knowing Kurt is looking down on you from heaven.  Clint Merrell USAF (MSgt) ret 

Kurt was a fantastic man to work with.  We all loved spending time with him.  Whether it was making deadlines, a ridiculous haunted house, or TP’ing his truck....  the best of times. 
He was a caring man, and he had a wonderful smile.  965th Stan/Eval never had a better group of people than those of us lucky enough to work with him.

We still can't believe Kurt has passed away.  He was an amazing family man, a great friend, and an outstanding airman.  Our thoughts, prayers, and love go out to Diana, Daniel, Catalina, his parents, and Maria.  Kurt will be missed.  Rest in peace, Kurt.

It is hard to believe that Kurt has passed. He was a true friend who would do anything he could for everyone . When I was going through some rough times, he was someone I could count on. We had some great times as well which I will never forget. It was privelage, and an honor to have him as a friend. He will be missed. Rest in peace my friend.
