My deepest condolences Kathleen and family. May Kevin rest in eternal peace, and may your happy loving memories of him ease the grief you now feel.  I pray for your comfort and healing as the coming days and months pass without him. I love you, my dear friend.

Kevin enjoyed staying at Shades of Green (a Disney Resort in Orlando), visiting the Disney Parks, and Disney Springs for its shopping with family and friends.  At this particular visit, he, Vickie, Adeline, Cheryl (a friend from the gym) and her daughter had an fun encounter with Chewbacca.

Kevin started visiting Hawaii and went as often as he could often staying in Honolulu where he bacame acquainted with the Wyland Galleries becoming an avid collector.    He visited Kona on several occasions, once with Vickie and Chris and another time with Vickie and Adeline.  The Hawaiian Islands were a place he enjoyed spending time and always came back with a story or two of some misadventure at the time which became funnier with each retelling..

Kevin loved to spend time at the beach and if he could spend it with his family then it made that time all the more special.  Here he is in the Outer Banks with son, David, Vickie, and father-in-law, Chuck Connelley who predeceased him in June 2021.  He and Vickie would go to the Outer Banks every year they could manage spending time  relaxing in the sun, surf fishing, and eating at their favorite restaurants along the entire length of the OBX.

If Kevin did not get his tan on and was not in the sun, he was not a happy camper.  He soaked up all the sun would give him, still wanting more throughout his life. Even Winter did not stop the him if he could manage to squeeze an hour or two in.

Kevin loved spending time with his family.  The grandchildren were a total joy to him and he loved spending time with them both and planning special trips to share and experience.

Another one of Kevin's favorite activities to see and go to each year was the Virginia State Fair.  One of his must-see stops was the Virginia State lottery's booth where he visited with the staff and once he and Grandson Matthew were fortunate to have a spin of the wheel and won $200 .  Kevin and Vickie went with the kids or grandchildren over the years whenever they could.

He and Vickie tried to make at least one visit to the fair every year and typically would have the multi-day pass. They would visit the tractors and farm equipment, animals, pig races, etc enjoying the fair to the fullest.  He was able to go for one day this past year which turned out to be the best weather-wise seeing the booths he wanted and just soaking it all in.  He reminisced on the changes over the years and still stopped to look at the tractors and farm equipment to make sure there was not something they needed.

He loved spending time with his family and taking delight in their joys.  Vickie had gotten Dolly, a rescue pony,  for the grandchildren to ride hoping to spark a love of horses and riding to the next generation.  This may have been Adeline's first ride after Dolly's arrival to the farm.  It was an fun day for David, Adeline, Kevin and Vickie as Adeline had her first equestrian adventure.

The marriage of his son, David to Kelly in 2003 was a proud and happy occasion for him.  He loved spending time with his immediate and extended family.  

As we made our way up the coast to the wedding venue, we stopped at every Hooters easily accesible to get our Hooter locations stamps in our Hooter passports and eat wings during the Hooters anniversary celebration. Vickie, Kevin and I had are own separate competition going on between ourselves to see who could get the most stamps during the Hooters event. Not sure but I think Vickie won though we all got enough stamps for the 100-wing giveaway.  She was traveling more with work and had an unfair advantage.

Hooters was another on of his favorite places to eat and we always made plans to make at least one visit when I came up to stay with Kevin and Vickie whenever he could.

One of his favorite spots in Yellowstone was the Lamar Valley and fly-fishing the river amonst the rocks testing his skills and the fish.  This was from a 2012 trip

I knew Kevin in High School, in Park Ridge, NJ.  We also worked at WT Grants department store together during High School.  We were going to go into the Coast Guard together, taking the trip down to the Recruitment Office in Newark, NJ together, but we went in different directions from there, though we both chose careers working on the water. 
I was able to visit him in Norfolk, just after he and Vickie  had gotten married, and he was loving his life in the USCG.  
We had lost touch over the years, but I have thought of  him often, and had hoped he would make it to our 50th Class Reunion.

So sorry to hear of Kevin’s passing. He was a great neighbor and we always enjoyed seeing him cutting the grass or chatting on the road walking the dogs.  Vickey, you and all of your family will be in our thoughts and prayers. Miss seeing you.
