Obituary of Kay M. Finch
Katherine “Kay” M. Finch, a Servant of the Lord, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2023. Katherine was born in Weston, West Virginia, March 2, 1929, to Marion B. Mitchell and Maude B. Mitchell. Kay moved to Norfolk for work after graduating high school. She met Bobby D. Finch while working at Little Creek Amphibious Base. After 28 days of romance, they were married (it was the uniform). After Bobby’s discharge from the Navy, they moved to Newport News and Kay worked in the finance department at Fort Eustis. Kay had become a believer in Jesus at the age of nine and had no clue where He would lead her. Her husband was also called upon by God to the ministry and together they spent over 50 years in Japan. Kay and Bobby were married for 64 years. Her parents, her brother, James Mitchell and his wife, Evelyn, preceded Mrs. Finch in death. Surviving members of the family are Bobby M. Finch and wife, Connie; daughter, Karen L. Reed and husband, Bill; grandchildren, Patrick Reed, Tracy Coleman and husband, Jamie, Jennifer Jenkins and husband, David; great-grandchildren, Kailee Watts and husband, Mark, Ethan, Coleman, Emmy Coleman, Eli Jenkins and Ali Jenkins; sister, Mary Dodson and sister, Tillie Fowler and husband, Ron. The family would like to thank Traditions Hospice for the help they have been to us for the last nine months.
