Julia M.E. Murphy

Our beautiful mother Julia “Judy” Murphy, 84 years of age, received her angel wings on Thursday, January 12, 2023. She is now in her heavenly home walking with God and his angels. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland on October 8,1938. She grew up in Hampton, Virginia with her parents and seven siblings. She was employed with NASA in her early career as a mail clerk. She then worked at the West Point Paper Mill as a machinery and tool inspector. Her retirement was from the Dominion Terminal Associates where she was in charge of the train control room for 15 years. She is preceded by her parents, Dolly Virginia Dean and Julius Dean. She is also preceded by her daughter, Rose Marie Murphy that passed away in 1960. She is survived by her four children, Dolly Kirschmann, Jimmy Murphy, Sandy Murphy and Randy Murphy. She was a dedicated Nanny to eleven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; great-great-grandson; and two great-great-grandchildren on the way. She dedicated her life to her family. The love and compassion she had for her family was her legacy! The door was always open and anything she could offer was available at any-time. She was a rare person who was smart, generous and kind. She loved to laugh and smile. Her favorite things to do was spend time with her family, play bingo and watch game shows on TV. She was a member of West Hampton Baptist Church as well as Buckroe Baptist Church. The family will receive friends 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, January 19, 2023 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Ave., Hampton, VA 23666. A celebration of Judy's life will be held 10:00 AM, Friday, January 20, 2023 at the funeral home followed by interment in Parklawn Memorial Park.
