I am just now finding out, 5 years later, that my sweet boss of many years ago at Sears has passed. Mr Gearheart was my boss in the Security Dept at Sears. I was only 16 years old and he took me under his wing and taught me the "ropes" about how to make the store safe and also perform the administrative tasks. He even took me to the court room to learn the process of return check recovery. All of this meant so much to me.

Thank you Mr Gearhart for your heart of gold and may you rest in peace. I only wish I had reached out sooner.  See you in heaven and can't wait to catch up with you.

John was my 2nd cousin.  We met in 2002 on the internet.  I was doing genealogy research on my Gearhart family and John found me and called me.  This was the start of a very loving kinship and friendship.  I will miss John and can only say how grateful that I am to have had him in my life.  Rest in Peace sweet cousin.

I am so sorry and will continue to keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

                                         I remember Mr. Gearhart as a sweet and kind gentlemen. The prayers and loving concern of my husband Lytle and me are extended to his family, Suzanne McSmith Buckingham.

I have fond memories of Johnny teaching me how to drive his Aunt Olive's big old black Buick "semi-automatic" car, and of the family spending wonderful evenings playing board games, and putting puzzles together. He welcomed me into the family with his open arms and happy heart, and he and Carolyn were of great comfort to John and me when we lost our son, his first grandchild. Peace be
