Jerry Ray Silverthorn

Jerry Ray Silverthorn, age 77, of Hampton, Virginia passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2022. Jerry was born in Hampton, Virginia to Annie Silverthorn and Beamon Silverthorn. Jerry was a faithful, loving Husband, Father and Grandfather. He was also a faithful believer who loved the Lord. He greatly enjoyed vacations to the beach in the summers and to the mountains in the fall with family and friends. His lighthearted and loving sense of humor will be greatly missed. Jerry was a Hampton native all of his life and found a career at Newport News Shipyard as a Shipbuilder and Nuclear Refueler for 39 years. Jerry was also an active member of Langley Baptist Church. Jerry is survived by his spouse of 51 years, Dorothy Silverthorn; his son Ryan Silverthorn (Aymee); and his daughter Shana Silverthorn Mertz (Art); his brother Bobby Silverthorn (Arline); his grandchildren Noah Mertz, Hayden Mertz, Asher Silverthorn, Benny Silverthorn; his nephew's Ronnie Silverthorn and David Silverthorn. Jerry was preceded in death by his father Beamon Silverthorn and his mother Annie Silverthorn; his nephew Scott Silverthorn. A Graveside Committal for Jerry will be held Thursday, December 1, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Parklawn Memorial Park, 2551 N Armistead Ave, VA 23666. Following the Graveside Committal will be a Funeral Service at 2:00 PM at Langley Baptist Church, 116 Little Back River Rd, Hampton, Virginia 23669. In lieu of flowers the family asks that a contribution be made in honor of his memory to Langley Baptist Church.
