Jim was born on February 17, 1930 in Campbell, NY to the late James Milton Morse Sr. and Lila Miller Morse. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Mark; and beloved granddaughter, Colleen. Jim was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army; serving as a Military Policeman during the Korean War era where he patrolled along the border between France and Germany. He was a very loving husband, father, grandpa, and great grandpa who brought immense joy to his family and friends.
Jim grew up during the Great Depression and World War II. These eras shaped him into the outstanding person he came to be. He had a strong work ethic and an unshakable faith in God. Jim‘s motto was do the right thing, always tell the truth, and do your best. He set a great example for his family and his friends as he never wavered from those beliefs. Jim was a man of few words, but when he spoke people listened; as he always spoke with authority and wisdom. He was quick to smile, slow to anger, and always had a joke to brighten your day.
In addition to military service, he retired from Ingersoll Rand following 33 years of service; and the United States Government after 15 years, where he received many awards for outstanding performance. Dedicated to serving others, Jim wore many volunteer hats during his lifetime including: Methodist Church Lay leader, Boy Scout Troop Leader, Volunteer Fire Department Chief, Volunteer at Sentara Careplex Hospital, and School Bus Driver to name a few.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 70 years, Doris; son, Dale (Carol) Morse of Suffolk Va; daughters, Janet Pierce of Suffolk Va, and Debbie Kreisler of Camillus, NY; granddaughter, Heather (Brent) Johnson; grandsons, Jory Creeley and Eric (Jessica) Kreisler; and great-grandchildren, Lilly and Eli. In addition, Jim is survived by his brother, Stephen (Pat) of Medina, NY; and sisters, Virginia of Cody, WY and Sylvia (Bob) of Painted Post, NY.
A Celebration of Jim’s life will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, March 26, 2021 at Bethany United Methodist Church, 1509 Todds Lane, Hampton, Va 23666. Flowers can be sent to the church at the address listed above.
