James served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. He retired in 1970 as Senior Inspection Manager for the EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) after 22 years of service. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War and Disabled American Veterans.
James was preceded in rest by his father, Jack T. Kramer, Sr.; mother, Helen Pearl Schrum; and brothers, Theodore, Jack, Jr. and Robert. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Nannie Lois Kramer; son, James R. Kramer, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL; daughter, Lois D. Perasso of Yorktown; grandchildren, Anthony J. Perasso of Jacksonville, FL and Jessica L. Saunders of Newport News; great-grandchild, Julian C. Saunders of Newport News; and brother, Jack R. Kramer.
The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Friday, August 3, 2018 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home and Memorial Park. A celebration of James’ life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 4 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Hampton-Veterans Memorial Gardens.
