No one fought more valiantly. Jim always remained upbeat, despite his pain and subsequent health issues. His passing has left a huge hole in the hearts of his family and friends.
Jim is survived by his children, April Burdette of FairPlay, CO; son, Michael Burdette (Rachel) of Hampton, VA; beloved grandchildren, Kingston, Lucas and soon to be (in August,) Violet; sister, Rita Young of Fort Myers, FL and a number of lifelong friends, nieces, and nephews.
Jim worked for the City of Hampton, in the Public Works Department for thirty years. During that time, his hard work resulted in promotions, and he eventually retired as a Supervisor, having received many accolades during his time there.
Jim was the epitome of the golden rule, as he treated everyone the way he wanted to be treated. He had a wonderful sense of humor and as a result, was loved and respected by co workers, friends and family.
You could search high and low, and never find a better father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was simply the best!
Please join us on Thursday, June 9th at 4:00 pm for a public visitation, followed by a Celebration of Life Memorial Service to be held at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home's Chapel in Hampton, Virginia.
