Glenda Nell Vaughan passed away Saturday, March 1, 2014 at her home in the Chesapeake Retirement Community in Newport News, VA. Nell was born July 8, 1939 in Fieldale, Virginia and was a Hampton resident since 1950 before moving to The Chesapeake in 2012.
She is survived by her husband, John V. (JV) Vaughan of Hampton; son, Jeff Vaughan (wife, Janet) and granddaughters, Morgan and Hannah of Midlothian, VA; daughter, Sharon (Shari) Graham (Husband, Jimmy) and granddaughters, Emily and Alison of New Bern, North Carolina; brother, Philip Hall (wife, Mary) of Hampton, VA.
She was predeceased by her parents, Reed and Irene Hall; brother, Leon Hall; and grandson, Kyle Darby.
Nell was the secretary at First United Church of Christ in Hampton for 35 years. She was a graduate of Hampton High School Class of '57. As an Air Force wife she traveled to many countries and around the United States. She was a seamstress and enjoyed crafts. As a member of Liberty Baptist Church she sang in the church choir.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of The Chesapeake for the wonderful, kind, and expert care given to Nell during her stay in the Health Care section and to the residents for their interest and kind words of encouragement given to Nell during her stay in The Chesapeake Retirement Community.

The family will receive friends 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of Nell's life will be held 1:00 PM, Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the funeral home with interment to follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.
