Gary L. Benoit

Gary retired from the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam conflict. He retired from the military with 24 years of service. He later became a warehouse foreman at Thompson Import Export. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Gary was preceded in rest by his father, Aime Benoit and brother, Dennis. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jackie; son, Brit Benoit and wife, Darleen; grandchildren, Austin, Chandler, Chloe and Kailey Benoit; mother; Laura M. Benoit; brother, Russell and wife Dorothy; and sister, Sue and husband John Glenn; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, July 1, 2016 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of Gary’s life will be held Saturday, July 2, at 11:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 902 Denbigh Blvd., in Newport News. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
