Garland Jerald Lawson, Sr. (Jerry) passed away on May 20th at the age of 80 after a brief illness.
Jerry was raised in Poquoson and lived for many years in Hampton. He served his country in the Army. Most of his career was at Newport News Shipbuilding, where he attained the honor of master shipbuilder before his retirement from the shipyard.
He is survived by his wife Alice, four children, and two grandchildren.
The family will receive family and friends for Garland on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 North Armistead Ave, Hampton, Virginia 23666. Following will be a celebration of life service at 12:00 PM.
