Fred H. Martin Jr.

Harten Jr., also known as "Captain Hart" or "Poppy", was born December 20, 1939 in Poquoson, Virginia. He was the son of late Florence and Fred H. Martin, Sr. A lifelong resident of Poquoson, he married the love of his life, Eunice Faye, on July 23, 1960. They were blessed with 42 years of marriage and love before she left this life in 2002.

He loved being on the ocean and the majority of his working career was as a captain of a large commercial fishing boat. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and grandfather. When he was not working, he loved to be at his home with his family, watching TV, especially sports.

He is survived by his children, Cathy and her husband Jim Morris, Susie and her husband Spencer Close, Michael Martin, Chrissy and her husband Christ Stead. Also survived by 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 3 brothers, John I. and wife Sue Martin, Lemuel Martin, Ronald and his wife Diane Martin, and a sister Jane Matheny.

There will be a graveside service at Parklawn Memorial Park on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends and family at his home, 127 Church Street, following the service.
