Florence Carolyn Burton

Florence C. Burton, 78, passed away on Monday, January 28, 2014. She was the daughter of the late William and Maggie Trevathan and was preceded in death by a sister. Born in Emporia VA, Florence was a long time employee of Lerner Stores, where she retired as a District Manager after 31 years of service. Survivors include her husband of 26 years, George E. Burton; a son, Glen and wife Judy; 3 daughters, Carolyn, Sally Ann and Cindy Ann; 5 grandchildren, Robert, Blythe, Tyler, Denis and Faith Ann; 2 great-grandchildren, Chandler and Christian; 3 brothers, David, Hilton and Claude. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home in Hampton. A celebration of her life will follow at 1:00 pm with Rev. Bert Rait and Rev. Samuel Thompson officiating. Burial will be announced at a later date.
