Elvira M Gregory

Funeral services for Elvira M. Gregory, 89, a resident of Hampton, were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 28, 2020 at Parklawn Memorial Park, 2551 N. Armistead Avenue, Hampton, Virginia. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a memorial service will be held to celebrate the life of Mrs. Gregory when her family is able to arrive from Germany.

Mrs. Gregory passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at the North Hampton Convalescent Center, in Hampton. Ella, the daughter of Johan and Anna Weinberger was united in marriage to Gordon “Corky” Gregory in 1978. He preceded her in death February 20, 1984.

Ella came to the United States in 1957 and eventually settled here in Hampton Roads. She was one of the first female barbers on the Peninsula. Mrs. Gregory was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and more recently, Liberty Baptist Church. Ella loved good food and socializing. She enjoyed hosting dinners for friends and had a wonderful smile that could light up a room.

She is survived by her sister Lydia Leikam, nephew Franz Leikam, goddaughter Dr Nkemka Anyiwo and countless friends.
