Services will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at St. Mark's Methodist Church, 99 E. Mercury Blvd in Hampton. There will be a visitation beginning at 2:00 pm, followed by services at 3:00 pm, with a reception at the church following the services. Burial will be at 1:00 pm on Monday, April 7, 2025 at Parklawn Memorial Park.
Elnora was born on June 27, 1933 in Pittsylvania County to the late Irene Crawley Watson and Fletcher Marvin Watson. After high school, she attended business school in Danville and began a lifelong career as a secretary and administrative assistant. She met and married her husband of 67 years, Clyde Franklin Estes, on September 24, 1954. Together, they moved their family to Hampton to start their life together in earnest.
Elnora found her work home at Langley AFB working for TAC headquarters until her retirement.There she met many lifelong friends that remained close over the years. Elnora and Clyde were members of St. Mark’s Methodist church, staying active in the church community and rounding out their social circle.
Along the way, they welcomed two daughters, Sandra Estes Barrett and Terri Estes Boyd.
Elnora is survived by two sisters, Dorothy Yeatts (Rudy) and Virginia David (E.J.). Along with daughters Sandra Barrett (EC) and Terri Boyd (David), Elnora is survived by grandchildren Mills Barrett, Bryce Barrett (Moni), Katherine Boyd (Lucien), Ellen Boyd (Matt) and Mary Boyd (Liam), along with great-grandchildren Max and Archer Barrett.
Elnora was preceded in death by her parents Irene and Fletcher Watson; siblings Evelyn Towler, Beulah Davidson, Sallie Towler, Agnes Blair, Calvin Watson, John Watson, Catherine (Kitty) Doss, Patsy Rice, and Gordon Watson; and her beloved husband Clyde Estes.
Elnora will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution can be made to St. Mark’s Church.
