Mrs. Elma Richetta Weaver, 68 years old from Hampton, Virginia went home to be with our heavenly father on February 11, 2013 after a prolonged illness. In her passing Mrs. Weaver was surrounded by family and in the recent days leading up to her homecoming she was able to meet with many close friends. Elma Richetta Weaver was born on February 29, 1944 to her parents Mr. Clarence Richmond and Mrs. Lucille Richmond in Yanceyville, North Carolina. She was an amazing mother, educator guidance counselor and friend to many. She was an alumni of Hampton University, where she received Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Education. She spent her career in the Hampton City School System as a teacher at Eaton Middle School and a Counselor at Lindsey, Symms and Spratley Middle Schools for over 35 years. She was a 28 year soror of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, who enjoyed to travel and was said to be a social butterfly that would brighten a room with her amazing smile. She is survived by her mother Mrs. Lucille Richmond, her husband of 46 years Mr. James E. Weaver, children: Sonya Wright, Darrell Weaver, Kevin Weaver and grandchildren: Juwuan, Myles, Cole, Imani, Ronnie II, Davin and Kai . Her wake and Omega service will be held on February 14th (Thursday) at the Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home at 2551 North Armistead Avenue, Hampton, Virginia 23666 from 6-8pm. The funeral will be at the First Baptist Church of Hampton, 229 North King Street, Hampton, Virginia 23669 at 10am.
