Doris was born in Pensacola, Florida on May 18, 1927 to Walter Gay McLeod and Irene Palmas McLeod. She graduated from Pensacola High School, Florida State University and Temple University School of Oral Hygiene. Doris worked as a Dental Hygienist in Pensacola, Florida. Although a native of Pensacola, Doris also lived in Louisiana, North Carolina, and Virginia. For the past forty years, she was a resident of both York County and Hampton, Virginia, where she resided at the Chamberlin at Fort Monroe.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dr. Louis A. Herrmann; and two brothers, Walter Gay McLeod, Jr. and Dr. Donald Stradley McLeod. She is survived by her four children, Teresa Cummings of Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, Mark Herrmann of Richmond, Virginia, Dr. Robert Herrmann of Rockville, Maryland, and Michael Herrmann of Poquoson, Virginia; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A viewing will be held at 10:00 am, a half hour prior to the Memorial Mass at 10:30 am on Friday, April 27, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 512 Buckroe Avenue, Hampton, Virginia 23662. A reception will follow the Mass at the Parish Center. Interment will be at 1:00 pm on Friday, April 27, Peninsula Memorial Park.
Contributions may be made in Mrs. Herrmann’s honor in lieu of flowers to a charity of choice.
