With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved , Daniel Prouty Stotts Sr. who left us peacefully at home, surrounded by family and friends on March 30th, 2025. He was 76 years old at the time of his passing. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Daniel touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Born in Zanesville, Ohio, Daniel Stotts Sr grew up with a deep sense of family and community. He dedicated his life to the United States Air Force for 20 years and retired as an Air Craft mechanic from Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, Virginia as a Staff Seargent. He loved talking about the many aircraft’s he worked on as he traveled throughout his military career, especially his favorites such as the B-52 Bomber, SR-71 Blackbird and the F-1 17 Nighthawk. During his time in the service, he also did a tour of duty in Vietnam and Desert Storm. He loved God, his family and his country.
He was known for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family. He had a quiet strength that inspired those around him, and his gentle spirit will never be forgotten.
As a father, Daniel Stotts Sr was the epitome of love and support. He cherished every moment with his children, always offering a guiding hand, a word of wisdom, or a comforting embrace when needed most. He celebrated their triumphs and stood beside them through their struggles, never failing to show his love. As a grandfather, he took great pride in his grandchildren, showering them with affection, teaching them life’s lessons, and creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Daniel was also a dear friend to many, always offering a listening ear, a helping hand, and a heart full of compassion. He had a special way of making those around him feel seen and valued.
Though we are heartbroken by his passing, we find comfort in knowing that his legacy will live on through the love he gave us and the lessons he instilled. We will forever carry him in our hearts.
Daniel is survived by his (wife) Samrueng Stotts, children, Penny (Josh) Anderson, Salynntawn Siadek, Daniel Prouty Stotts 2nd and Willis H.H. Stotts 2nd, his grandchildren Tavee (Shaye) Van Horn, Patrick ( Hannah) Gollhofer, Kelsey, Kabrina, James, Dylan, Lya, Harmon, Sumalee , his great grandchildren Terrence, Audrina Preap, Julian, Emmett and his sister Nora Davis, and two sister-in-laws, Donna and Kathy Stotts, one brother in-law Dave Holman and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by Willis H.H. and Zelma (Longshore) Stotts, Essie (Kenneth) Davis, (William) Davis, Gladys, Wayne (Nancy) Stotts, Josephine (Ernest Burchett/ Charles Barner), Dale Stotts, Korrina Holman, Joy ( David Fleming/ Wayne Gortner), John Stotts, and one granddaughter McKenzie Siadek.
Rest in peace, Dad. Always and forever until we see eachother again.
A public visitation for Daniel will be held Monday, April 7, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 2551 North Armistead Ave, Hampton, Virginia 23666, followed by a memorial service with military honors at 2:00 PM, services will be officiated by Pastor Don Phelps.
