Rev. Daniel Webster Menser, Sr., age 86, passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2014. He was born to the late Ray Earl Menser and Edyth Emily Saylor in Somerset, Pennsylvania and had most recently been a resident of Hampton.
Rev. Menser retired from the U.S. Army after 26 years of service. In 1952 he became an ordained Pastor and retired after 47 years in ministry. He was a member of Hampton Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon. He was a member of the American Legion Post #31, Chapter 4407 of AARP, and a life member of Chapter #6 of the D.A.V.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret S. Menser. He is survived by his sons, Craig Menser and wife Neila, Dennis Menser and wife Janet, Daniel Menser II and wife June, Barry Menser and husband Michael Hamar, and Michael James Menser; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, John Menser; sisters, Peggie Wyent and Marilyn Long; and numerous niece and nephews.
A celebration of Rev. Menser’s life will be held at 2:30 pm on Sunday, August 24, at Hampton Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Hampton-Veterans Memorial Gardens with military honors.
