Claude "Kit" R. Carson, Sr., 88, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2011. He was a native of Judson, NC and a lifelong resident of Hampton. Kit served honorably in the U.S. Navy and served on the Oklahoma City ship during WWII. He was Past Master of St. Tammany Lodge No. 5, and a lifelong member and deacon emeritus of Pine Chapel Baptist Church. Claude was a life member of James River Rod and Gun Club. He loved golf and was a starter-marshal at the Woodlands Golf Course for many years.
Claude was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Hunt Carson. He is survived by sons, Claude Carson, Jr. and wife Linda, Steve Carson and wife Deborah, and William Carson and wife Brenda; daughter, Carole Theodore and husband Ronnie; 9 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 pm on Monday, November 28, 2011 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of Kit's life will be held Tuesday, November 29, at 11:30 am at Pine Chapel Baptist Church, 1544 W. Queen St., in Hampton. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pine Chapel Baptist Church, 1544 West Queen Street, Hampton, VA 23669.
