Christine Gale Jones, 9/25/1947 - 4/9/2022, was born to Earnest and Katherine Bell (Maynard) at Blackstone, Virginia. She was the oldest of seven children. She was active in sports in school. She loved to bowl, skate, and play softball. She also loved playing cards and board games like Monopoly and Scrabble. One of her favorite songs was “Always and Forever” by Heatwave.
She graduated from high school while living with her mother and stepfather, Carl Ennis Maynard Sr. at Evreux Air Base in France. She met her husband, Lee Ellis Jones Sr. at Hoppstaedten (Later A.K.A. Boehmer) Army Airfield, Germany. They later married on 3/16/1968 at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Christine
was an industrious cook, an interior designer, a tailor, and a mother of four sons. She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1981. A faithful Christian sister of 41 years, she has the hope of a resurrection. (John 5:28) She lived in Hampton, Virginia for many years before passing away at 74 years old.
She was preceded in death by Earnest Bell, Carl Ennis Maynard Sr., Carl Ennis Maynard Jr., Katherine Maynard, and granddaughter, Jamaika Marchae Jones.
Her memory will be cherished by her siblings; Vernon Leander Bell, Melvin Eugene Bell, Melba Earnistine Petteway, George Alfonzo Maynard, and Karen Nicole Graham-Sherman. Her memory will
also be cherished by her husband, Lee Ellis Jones Sr., her four sons, and their families. Lewis and Jeana Jones; Lee Jones Jr., and grandchildren, Shyrah Cristina Jones, and Isaiah Lee Ron Jones; Reggie and April George-Jones, and grandchildren, Bria Nicole Green, and Deja Monet Jones; Rodric Ali Jones and grandchildren, Neonna Destiney Lett, Iscia Jasmine Wilfork, Aliyah Desirae Jones, Micah Anthony Jones, and great-granddaughter, Novali Auryel Wilfork.
The memorial service will be held at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Avenue, Hampton, Virginia 23666, May 4, 2022, at 1 pm. Seating is limited so please contact Lewis Jones to RSVP. There will be a Zoom meeting set up for observers to attend online. Please send flowers to the funeral home by May 3, 2022.
