Carl Gary Greene

He was born in Bonney Blue, Virginia on August 1, 1933. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Rita Fern Greene; his three daughters Debra Ann Shipley (Ricky), Pamela Sue Young (Mark), and Tracy Lynn Greene; his grandchildren Brandon Lee Greene, Zachary Wayne Gauthier, Benjamin Preston Young, Kelly Renee Shipley, Holly Michelle Shipley, Brent Shane Greene, Crystal Sprague, Shaun Shipley; great grandchildren Elsie, Elliott, Grayson, Zayden, Azaria, Claire, Isla, Kaleb, Peyton and Chloe.

Carl graduated from Pennington High School class of 1952 and continued his education at Hiwassee College where he studied engineering and earned varsity letters for football and basketball.

Carl served in United States Navy as a Machinist Mate 3rd Class and continued in reserves until 1961.

Upon completion of his active duty in the service, he relocated to Newport News, Virginia where he began his career with Newport News Shipbuilding as a Pipefitter. He was a QID Inspector when he retired 35 years later in 1994.

His passion in life has always been his family and his faith in God. He was an active member at Bethel Baptist Church in Tabb, Virginia.

He served as assistant coach from 1992-1994 for York County Little League. In his spare time he enjoyed golf, watching baseball and Washington Redskin games.

A Graveside service was held at Hampton Memorial Gardens on October, 28th, 2022.
