Benjamin Franklin Artis

He was the son of the late Madie Reid and John Artis. He received his education in the Pikeville, NC public school system. Benjamin dedicated 21 years to the United States Army achieving a distinguished career, including combat in the Vietnam War, before retiring. He then embarked on a successful entrepreneurial journey, owning and operating businesses for three decades before transitioning to enjoy his many hobbies.

He leaves behind his loving wife of whom he met in Vietnam, Gian Artis; his sons, Lee, Benjamin (Jr), and Marlon Artis; his brother and friend, Mal Reid Jr.; and his four beloved grandchildren. Benjamin is also survived by his extended family, including sister-in-law Helen Reid, Joyce Reid, cousins, nephews, nieces, and other loving relatives and friends.

The visitation service will be held on Friday from 6 to 8 pm at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home in Hampton, VA.
