Audrey Basham Branch, 93, of Hales Ford, Franklin County, Virginia, passed on Sunday, October 2, 2016. She had been a resident of the Peninsula for 70 years. She was a member of Faith Church of God, Hampton, VA.
Audrey held several positions in Retail Sales with her favorite, most memorable being the Infants Department at Warwick Nachman's. She resided at Northampton Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center since December, 2008; she so loved the thoughtful and caring staff and her many friends there. She enjoyed her days filled with Bingo, the visits made by the master gardening ladies, and weekly entertainment provided by the "Over the Hill Gang". She was famous for spreading her joy through laughter and her notorious "Bear Hugs".
Her many loves and passions were her family, going out to eat and shopping with her 2 daughters, all flowers and birds, the Lawrence Welk show, Perry Como, Bingo, her granddog Cooper, and most of all, her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
She was preceded in rest by her parents, Oglesby Davis Basham and Madeline Altice Basham; Sisters, Frances Bobbit, Gertrude Fletcher, and Dorothy Layne; Brothers, Robert Basham, Aubry Basham, and Alcoy Basham.
Survivors include her 2 daughters, Betty Branch, Linda Lanning and her husband, Charlie; Grandson, Levi Lanning and his wife, Jamie; Great-Grandchildren, Liam Lanning and Lilly Lanning; Sisters, Addie Dillon and Barbara Bostic; Brothers, Frank and Wayne Lee (Johnny) Basham; and many loving nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home on Sunday, October 9, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A Celebration of Audrey's life is scheduled for Monday, October 10, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Don Back/Faith Church of God, Hampton and Pastor Tom Tipton/Christ United Methodist Church, Newport News. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
