He retired from Drake Dental Labs in 2015 after 18 years. For sixteen years he owned and operated, with his wife, the Rendezvous Restaurant located on Kecoughtan Road in Hampton. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in the Korean Conflict. Archie was involved in many civic organizations including the Shriners, Masons, the AIK Club, Moose Lodge #119, and the American Legion Post #25.
Preceding him in rest is his beloved wife of 61 years, Nelda R. Parker and parents Henry and Lela Parker. Surviving members of his family include his children, Archie G. Parker, Jr. and fiancée, Rita Hall of Morehead City, NC, Sharon Hall Poole of Hampton, Glen A. Parker and wife Sally of Poquoson, and Brian K. Parker of Hampton; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Claxton Ray Parker, Sr.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. Following the visitation, a service celebrating Archie’s life will be held at 7:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hampton Fire Department #6 or the Peninsula SPCA.
