Steven Milton Schneider left us and went to his heavenly home on Saturday, December 7, 2024, after a one-month diagnosis of stage 4 brain cancer at the age of 70. He was born on February 5, 1954 in Fort Worth, TX to Melvin and Winnie Louise Schneider. Steve was a Lutheran and had a strong faith in God. He attended schools in Arlington, TX and joined the U. S. Air Force on December 15, 1971, served 4 years and received an honorable discharge. He married Diane, his sweetheart, on November 25, 1972. They welcomed Stephanie, their precious daughter, into the world and their hearts in 1973. After Steve's military career, he worked at Graff Chevrolet in Grand Prairie, TX for about 20 years as an auto body technician and estimator. Later, when Steve and Diane moved from Arlington to the family property he loved in Hamilton, TX he worked at Alexander Moulding Mill until he retired. Steve was a member of S.P.J.S.T. Lodge 183 in Arlington, TX, and a member of American Legion Post #487 in Priddy, TX. He loved spending time with his family, friends, and faithful dog Penny. Steve enjoyed driving country roads, baseball, riding motorcycles, boating, fishing, camping, hunting, playing golf, driving his tractor, smoking briskets, and making sausage and beef jerky. He was a very special and talented man.
Steve is survived by Diane, his loving wife of 52 years; Stephanie and Jay McDaniel (daughter & son-in-law); Kayla and Brandon Schraub (granddaughter and grandson-in-law); Dustin McDaniel (grandson); Britley, Marlee, and Rayleigh (great-granddaughters) all of Hamilton. Kathy and Darell Tipps (sister and brother-in-law) of Azle, TX; Bernard Jr. & Laurie Hlavaty (brother-in-law & sister-in-law); Nancy Ivy (sister-in-law); and Karen Svacek (sister-in-law) all of West, TX. Many nieces, nephews, family, and friends also survive him.
He was preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Winnie Louise Schneider; parents-in-law Bernard Sr. & Betty Hlavaty; and brother-in-law Gary Hlavaty.
Steve's wishes were to be cremated. A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Hwy. 22 East at Cheyenne Mesa Road, Hamilton, TX 76531.
