Lydia was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Shive, TX. Was confirmed March 17, 1940
in St. Paul Lutheran Church by Rev. G. C. Senff and went to the Shive school.
Lydia married Carl Louis Bethke in 1959 and together they owned and operated a Grocery Store/Service Station in Hamilton until his death in 1981. She then worked at a dry cleaners in Hamilton and loved the customers.
Lydia married Leamon Carl Adam Wagner June 29, 1991. At that time she became a housewife
and together they farmed and ranched in the Hamilton area. Lydia enjoyed serving at her church, participated in the Home Demonstration Club and attending family reunions. Lydia’s greatest achievement in life was to serve and help others. In the fall of 2015 they moved to the Hamilton Health Care Home. Leamon passed away July 23, 2020.
Lydia is survived by sister-in-law Lorine Peters, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Darman and Jane Wagner, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters- Anna Nord, Ida Carlson, Marie Hunter, Paula Eisen, Freida Neff, and brothers – Gus, Carl, Fritz and Otto Peters.
Visitation will be at the Riley Funeral Home Sunday, August 2, 1 to 5 pm and Monday, August 3, 8 am until noon.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery, Pottsville, TX.
