Lonnie Chumney

Lonnie G Chumney, age 66, of Hamilton County, Texas passed away on Monday, September 1, 2014. Lonnie was born on Tuesday, January 20, 1948 in in Hamilton, Texas to Wilmer Washington and Mary Katherine Clem Chumney.

Lonnie attended Hamilton Schools where he played on the Basketball, Football and Tennis Teams. After graduating from Hamilton High School, Lonnie graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Master of Business Administration in Management from St. Edwards University in Austin. Lonnie was the Owner and Broker of Lonnie G Chumney Real Estate.

One of the many accomplishments of Lonnie’s life came while in the military when he served for two years in the Presidential Honor Guard (The Old Guard) guarding President Richard Nixon and also serving on President Dwight Eisenhower’s Funeral Honor Guard.

Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers W.C. Chumney and Douglas Chumney and sister Dora Gholson. Lonnie is survived by his wife Joy Chumney of their country home; one son Michael Allen Chumney of Bastrop, TX; two sisters Wilma Drury of San Antonio, TX and Anita Adams of Hamilton, TX. Also surviving him are his two sister in laws Margaret Chumney of Irving, TX and Mary Chumney of Fort Worth, TX and numerous other family and close friends.

Visitation was held on Thursday, September 4, 2014 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Riley Funeral Home. Funeral Services were held on Friday September 5, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the Barn Church in Hamilton, TX. Burial followed in Shive Public Cemetery in Shive, TX.

Pallbearers were Brandon Jenkins, William Gilley, Ben Gilley, Jimmy C Adams, Reggie Garner and Marcus Chumney .
