Jan Warren Pearcy

With heavy hearts and deep appreciation for a life filled with love and adventure, we announce the peaceful passing of Jan Warren Pearcy, who ascended into his spiritual life on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at his cherished ranch home in Fairy, Texas. Born on November 16, 1937, in Gorman, Texas, Jan was a true renaissance man-a jack-of-all-trades whose spirit and passion for life inspired all who knew him.

Jan's journey was marked by resilience and determination. At a young age, he faced a tragic accident that left him with broken legs, arms, pelvis, and ribs. The doctors expected he would be wheelchair­ bound for life. However, Jan defied the odds, learning to stand, walk, and run again. His incredible strength and perseverance earned him the nickname "Hook," a testament to his hooked right arm, which became a symbol of triumph over adversity. In his senior year, he shattered the half-mile record twice - prelims and finals - at the Texas State track meet, setting the stage for a remarkable athletic career.

Jan's love for children and family was the cornerstone of his life. For nearly thirty years, he served as a physical education coach at San Andres Elementary School in Andrews, Texas, where he poured his heart into nurturing young minds and bodies. His students adored Coach Pearcy, and the love he showed them reflected his understanding of what was truly important in life-having a love for life.

Jan's family meant the world to him. He and his wife, Charlotte, shared a beautiful life together, raising two sons, Van and Kirk. Jan cherished their family summer vacations, spending time in their camper traveling from West Texas to the mountains, fishing in rivers and creating memories that would last a lifetime. Weekends were often spent in pursuit of fishing adventures, and as his boys grew, Jan proudly passed on his athletic talents, cheering them on at countless sporting events and track meets.

A true outdoorsman, Jan found peace and happiness in nature. He enjoyed hunting, camping, and spending time on the golf course with his buddies, where he was known not just for his short-game skills, but for his infectious laughter and friendly banter. He was a self-proclaimed "big Skin winner," always ready to share stories of his victories.

Jan's love extended to his four grandchildren, Erin, Cody, Vance, and Chase, who brought him immense joy. He delighted in watching them grow and sharing in their adventures, instilling in them the same appreciation for life that he embodied.

Jan was a man of simple pleasures, embracing his retirement with open arms. Jan started each day with his favorite meal - breakfast, with pounds of eggs, hot sauce, sausage, ham, and homemade biscuits. He loved the ranching life, working with his hands, and reflecting on his day with a couple Diet Cokes at 5 o'clock-his way of celebrating the end of a fulfilling day. Jan was known to have a sweet tooth, and loved eating pies, cakes, and ice cream every single day.

Jan is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte M. Pearcy, sons Van M. Pearcy and his wife Donna, and Kirk

E. Pearcy, along with grandkids, Cody, Erin and Chase, and one great grandchild, Emma. He is reunited in spirit with his parents, Hollis and Verne Pearcy, his brothers, Rod, Neil, and Happy, and his grandson, Vance.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Jan's memory by contributing to a non-profit organization of your choice that benefits children, a cause that resonated deeply with him.

A celebration of Jan's life will be held on Wednesday, December 11th at 2:30 PM at Fairy Cemetery in Fairy, Texas, honoring the legacy "Hook", Coach Pearcy, PaPa & Jan Pearcy leaves behind.
