Garvine Atchley Geeslin Chumney, 94, passed away peacefully at her home in Fort Worth, Texas on Thursday, January 20, 2022. She was surrounded by family. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday January 29, 2022, at Riley Funeral Home in Hamilton, Texas. Burial will be in Murphree Cemetery in Evant, Texas following the services. Mrs. Chumney will be buried next to her mother, Allie Mae Atchley. Visitation will be prior to funeral services at Riley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Chumney was born November 25, 1927, in Evant, Texas, the daughter of Earnest A. Atchley and Allie Mae Flippen Atchley, longtime residents of Hamilton County. Mrs. Chumney was one of five children.
On September 26, 1947, she was united in marriage to Ralph Leonard Geeslin of Vista Mountain and Shive, Texas who precedes her in death with his passing on May 1, 1976. She later united in marriage on September 9, 1982, to Billie Eldon Chumney of Evant, Texas who precedes her in death with his passing on July 28, 1992.
She was a devoted wife to her husbands, a loving mother, grand-mother, great-grandmother, and a great friend.
Survivors include three children, Rita Jann Geeslin of Payson, Arizona, Timothy Lynn Geeslin of Arlington, Texas, and Lee Geeslin of Arkansas, her sister, Lavada Atchley Jones Spruiell of Dawson, Texas, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Justin Geeslin Larry Jones, Dylan Jones, Thomas Geeslin, Billy J. Warren, Tim Geeslin, and Ronnie Adams.
