Ed was born June 23, 1930 in Rock Springs, Texas to Jasper Jenkins and Alice Jo (Rivenburgh) Jenkins. He began school in Camp San Saba, attended one year of school in Brady and then the family moved to Fairy, Texas where he graduated from High School. After high school he attended Tarleton State University for two years and then transferred to Texas A&M University where he graduated with his Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. After graduating he enrolled in the United States Army where he served for two years. After his service to our country he returned to Texas A&M University to get his Master’s degree, after the completion of his degree he began working for the Texas Highway Department in Junction and later was transferred to the Waco office where he remained until his retirement in June of 1991.
He was accepted into Mensa on September 1, 1976. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge which he received his fifty year pen from.
He married Betty Sue Parker on January 7, 1972.
He is survived by his wife Betty Jenkins; four daughters, Susan Lousberg and her husband Bruce, Joyce Holt and her husband Matt, Annie Scoggin and her husband Charlie and Melanie Lees and her husband Matt; four grandchildren Amanda Hunt and her husband Chase, Trevor Lousberg, Callan Scoggin and Colten Lees and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
The Jenkins family will receive guests for a time of visitation from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, May 22, 2011 at Riley Funeral Home in Hamilton. Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Monday, May 23, 2011 at Camp San Saba Cemetery near Brady, Texas.
