Donald was born on October 12, 1944, to Austin C. and Jessie Juanita Nuss Damron in Stillwater, OK. On July 10, 1983 he married Barbara Jane Hedin in Copperas Cove, TX. At the age of nineteen Donald entered the US Army and served our nation as a Chief Warrant Officer until retiring from the service in 2003.
Donald was a Past Commander of the American Legion Post #222 in Hamilton Texas and a Past Commander of District 11 of the American Legion in Texas and was also an Honorary Member of the Women's Army Corps Veterans' Association. . Mr. Damron was also a Member of The Purmela United Methodist Church. He and Barbara also enjoyed playing Santa and Mrs. Claus at various events.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, son Donald Wilburn Damron Jr., brother Austin Fredrick Damron , nephew Jimmy Anderson and niece Fredrica Damron.
He is survived by his beloved wife Barbara; children Dennis S Damron and wife Courtni, Jason S Damron, Rebecca Sue Damron, Douglas Damron and Deborah Boles; His grandchildren are Julia Boles, Hunter Damron Chase Damron and Alyssa Hunt Alaura Hunt, Rosa Hunt and Dennis Scott Damron Jr. He is also survived by his sister Harriett “Sam” Anderson and husband Jim of Stillwater, OK and numerous nieces and nephews including Kary Poorman, Mary Hunt, Carl Poorman, Amber Harrison and great nieces, Kiera Harrison and Berlin Harrison.
Funeral Services were held at 2:00pm Sunday September 20, 2015 at Riley Funeral Home in Hamilton Texas and Burial followed Monday, September 21, 2015 at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas with Full Military Honors being performed.
