Betty Joann Adams (Joann) was born August 26, 1940 in Haggerman, New Mexico to Terry Gilbert and Viola Marie (Lee) Bartlett, and passed away peacefully on January 23, 2024 in Stephenville, Texas at the age of 83.
Joann was a preacher's daughter and grew up playing the piano in church. Although she was legally deaf, she taught herself to play by ear. She loved to play and sing. She was a member of First Assembly of God, Wylie Texas where she was the pianist and organist for many years. Later, she and her husband moved to Indian Gap and attended the Assembly of God church in Hamilton, Texas where she was also the pianist. After the church closed, they began attending Indian Gap Baptist church closer to their home.
Joann was preceded in death by 2 children, Joe Dale Adams and LaDonna Kay (Adams) Trawick. Joe Dale passed away at a day old. LaDonna passed away in 2021 due to Covid.
Joann was married to the love of her life, Cleo Dale Adams for 66 years, he survives. She is also survived by one son, Terry Ray Adams (Helena) of Stephenville, Texas, and one daughter, Debra Fay (Adams) Reynolds with son-in-law Scott of Ellsinore, Missouri and son-in-law, David Trawick (LaDonna) of Honduras. She was a wonderful Nannie to her 6 grandchildren that she absolutely loved with all her heart, Tony, Trey, Rachelle, Tabitha, Rebekah, Lydia and their spouses. All 6 of these grandchildren gave her many great grandchildren and she was absolutely thrilled each time a new baby was added to the family. She loved her family more than life itself.
A funeral will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024 at 12:00 pm at Indian Gap Baptist Church. Visitation will precede funeral from 10:30 - 12:00 at the church. Burial will be in the cemetery next to the church.
