Bertha Augusta Wagner

Services were on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Shive, Texas, with Don Kingman, Pastor, officiating. Burial was in St Paul Cemetery under the direction of Riley Funeral Home.

Bertha was born March 4, 1909 near Carmine, Texas, the daughter of John and Augusta (Peters) Spitzenberger. She was baptized on April 18, 1909, at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine, Texas and confirmed on April 15, 1923, at St Paul Lutheran Church in Shive, Texas. She married Edward Paul Wagner on December 5, 1929. He preceded her in death on October 13, 1999. Brothers; Bill and Arthur Spitzenberger; sister, Ester Eisen; and grandson Mark Raney, also preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker while raising her children and then worked in a nursing home. She was a member of St Paul Lutheran Church.

Survivors include two brothers, John and Paul Spitzenberger ; one sister, Erna Eisen; six children Leota Kuykendall, Mabel Atkinson and husband Lanham, Voleen Bailey and husband David, Frances Bradley and husband Marvin, Pauline Claunch and Paul Wagner and wife Gloria; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Larry Kuykendall, Ricky Atkinson, Andrew Atkinson, David Bradley, Phillip Claunch, John Claunch, Ricky Miller, and Brian Schade.
