She was born September 7, 1922 in Marlow Oklahoma to Roy Thomas Crouch and Willie (Fine) Crouch. Her parents raised Alma and her three siblings in Marlow.
In 1938, she married CM Slaughter who after 35 years of marriage passed away in 1973. She then married Herman (Chuck) Walton in 1974. They were married until he passed away in 2003.
She has been a Hamilton resident since moving there in 1953. For many years, she was a member of Hamilton First Baptist Church. As a devoted Christian, she enjoyed serving others and the church.
From the late 1960s until the early 1970s, she worked at Harelik’s Department store in Hamilton.
Alma was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Roy Thomas Crouch and Mrs. Willie Fine Crouch Stone; her husband, CM Slaughter ; husband, Chuck Walton; son, Tom Slaughter; her brother, JD Crouch; sister-in-law, Betty Mae Crouch, brother-in-law, Jearld Spivey; and her great-grandson, Austin Thomas Slaughter Jennings.
Alma is survived by daughter-in-law, Elaine Slaughter Maughan of Lorena; grand-daughters, Teri Jennings and husband, Jim, stationed in Colorado Springs, CO; Tonya Hoffman McLean and husband, Tim, of Lorena,; Tricia McLean of Lorena; great-grandsons Ryker Jennings, Wyatt Jennings, Garrett Jennings, Trevor Hoffman, Hunter Hoffman and Cole McLean. She is also survived by her sisters Gloria Spivey of Marlow, OK and Patsy Snapp and husband, Deward, of Bryant, AR.
Alma’s family thanks the staff at Wesley Woods in Waco for their compassionate care for the last five years.
