Winifred Spong

Beloved wife of Roy Spong (2009). Loving mother of David (Karen), Ken (Brenda), and Kathy (Stan Otaguro). Dear grandmother of Cassandra, Corrine, Kristin, Jim, Melissa, Alex, Jacqueline, and Erica, and great-grandmother of Christopher, Nicolas, Cheyanne, Aiden, Dylan, Ashley-Lynn, Ava, Violet, and Lincoln, and great-great-grandmother of West and Helaina. Sister of Doris Davis (2014) and her husband William Davis (1985). She will be also greatly missed by close friends Gay Spong and Kay Otaguro.

Winifred was retired after 25 years of service with Sears. She loved music, singing, playing the piano, and crossword puzzles. Winifred was an Elder Emeritus of the Presbyterian Church of Canada, a longtime member of St. John’s Presbyterian Church and, more recently, Trinity Presbyterian Church. Special thanks to Neli and Sharon for years of caring for our mother.

Visitation will be held at the Marlatt Funeral Home, 615 Main Street East (east of Sanford Ave.), Hamilton, on Sunday, May 7th from 2 – 5 pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the Marlatt Memorial Chapel on Monday, May 8th, 2023 at 11 am. Cremation to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or Trinity Presbyterian Church.
