Sheila Dykstra, beloved wife of Jonathan Weverink, cherished daughter of Gordon and Evelyn Dykstra, deeply loved sister of Mark (Hillie), Allan (Laura Haylock) and Sarah (Stephen Condran) and adored auntie, niece and friend to many passed away suddenly on Friday Dec 8, 2023 at the age of 46.
Born in Ottawa but residing for many years in Nigeria and Hamilton Ontario, Sheila spent her life dedicated to education and her love of the Lord. She radiated passion when she spoke about her work, her curriculum development and she demonstrated nonstop dedication to enhancing the lives of others. Grounded in collaboration, strong relationships were at the core of her work and life. Sheila loved to dream boldly about what the future of Christian education could look like in different contexts around the world.
She was an amazing storyteller and always could find just the right book to read or just the right story to tell. Whether enjoying a sticky smore around a family campfire, reading a book to her nieces and nephews while swinging in a hammock, playing board games with family and friends, or getting lost in the moment of a deeply felt song, Sheila was a lover of the simple pleasures of life. Her smile lit up a room and her kindness touched so many lives.
Sheila is loved and missed across the world.
