Passed away peacefully at the Juravinski Hospital on Monday, October 4, 2010 at the age of 81. Survived by Gwen, his beloved wife of 59 years. He will be greatly missed by his son Brian and his wife Lisa and his son Michael and his wife Annette, and his devoted grandchildren James, Jennifer, Melanie and Amelia. Will also be missed by his brothers George and Joseph, sisters Mary, Eileen and Lorraine. Predeceased by his brothers John and Paul and sisters Kathleen and Jane. Peter was a well-respected Hamilton businessman. He was Founder and president of Ward Electric and Mechanical Ltd. and Dreger Ward Electronics Ltd. He was also an avid harness-horse owner and breeder. Peter was a past president of The Hamilton Construction Association, the Electrical Contractors Association of Hamilton and past president of Mount Hamilton Optimist Club. Peter served on the Board of Governors of Hillfield Strathallan College as well as the Board of Directors at the Glendale Golf and Country Club where he was a longtime member. He enjoyed golf and curling with his many friends. Peter will be remembered for his sense of humour and his devotion to his family. Cremation has taken place. Friends may call at the MARLATT FUNERAL HOME, 615 Main Street East (east of Sanford), on Thursday, October 7, 2010 from 2-4 p.m. A Memorial Service will follow in the Marlatt Memorial Chapel at 4:00 p.m. Reception to follow. If so desired, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society or the Salvation Army.
