Predeceased by his parents, Mary and Henry. He leaves behind his loving wife of 45 years, Doreen. Devoted father of Matthew (Christina), Michael, Adam (Stephanie), and Mary (Tom) Barac. Proud Dido of Jonathan, Myles, Oriana, and Jasper. Peter will be greatly missed by his siblings, Elsie (Jim) Anderson, Jim (Dorothy), and Gwen (Rob) Gilhooly, sister-in-law Madeline (Dave) Danylewich, and brother-in-law Doug (Kelly) Kariam. He will also be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends. Peter was born and raised in Hamilton. A graduate of Central Collegiate Institute (1969), he went on to work at Dofasco as a metallurgical inspector, retiring after 34 years of dedicated service. Peter had enjoyed camping, fishing, cycling, curling, and golf. He was a skilled handyman, gardener, and cook. Peter had also devoted his time as a Scout leader, soccer and basketball coach, the latter earning him The Hamilton Spectator Community Service Award (1999). To those who knew him, he was a reflective, hardworking, witty, and wise man. Peter always looked forward to outings with his “cronies” and spending time with his adoring grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at the Markey-Dermody Funeral Home (King and Kenilworth) on Saturday, April 15th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with a memorial service to follow.
