Patricia Ryckman-Fleming

Born Hazel Patricia Payne November 4, 1938, daughter of Norman Earl Payne and Hazel Marguerite Payne. Patricia died peacefully at Bob Kemp Hospice in Hamilton on June 4, 2016 surrounded by her family. Dearly beloved wife of William Fleming, sister of Shirley Brown and Ron Rostron, Marlyn and Clint Kern, Milton and Karen Payne and Neil’s partner Susannah Hum. Predeceased by brothers Cdr Neil Payne of HMCS Cataraqui, Kingston, awarded the Order of St. John-Cdr, and Michael Payne, our specially loved little brother. Patricia was the mother of Laird and Debbie Ryckman, Graham and Colleen Ryckman, step-mother of Ian and Jennifer Fleming and Gayle Fleming. Her sweet grandchildren were her pride and joy, Bailey and Dalton Ryckman, Caytlin and Carley Ryckman, Nicholas, Rhiannon and Madeleine Fleming, Benjamin and Joanna Fleming. She was a long-time resident of Ancaster with the last eleven years having lived in Brantford. Patricia was a long-time employee of Hillfield-Strathallan-College in Hamilton. A consummate learner, she upgraded all her life, first courses for business, then courses for her own enjoyment. She studied and taught modeling and fashion design. She pursued many crafts and skills over the years. After retirement she turned her hand to quilting which became her passion. She belonged to Ancaster Quilt Guild, Brant Heritage Quilters Guild and her Brantford Applique Sisters Group which were her dearest friends. She competed in and won many quilting competitions from local to national shows. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Richard Packer for all his care and kindness and very special thanks to the Bob Kemp Hospice for their amazing staff, for their care and compassion. Friends and family are invited to call at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME, 322 Fennell Ave. E., on Tuesday, June 7th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 8th at 11a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations to Bob Kemp Hospice would be appreciated
